A workshop with a family name on the door.
Lux Lander began as a small, family run trailer business in George. No investors and no production line, just a workshop, a commitment to doing the job properly and customers who kept coming back.

We are a small, family run business in George, Western Cape, and we have been part of South Africa's trailer manufacturing industry since 2008. The X4 is the caravan we always wanted to build.
Lux Lander began as a small, family run trailer business in George. No investors and no production line, just a workshop, a commitment to doing the job properly and customers who kept coming back.

More than fifteen years of building trailers taught the family what corrugations do to hinges, what dust does to seals and what owners actually use when they are a long way from help. Every lesson went back into the next build.

The natural progression was a caravan. The X4 keeps the toughness of a proper off road trailer and adds a queen bed, a slide out kitchen, a wet bath and off grid power, without losing the compact footprint that gets you through the narrow tracks.

Each X4 is built in our George workshop on a 3CR12 stainless steel chassis, clad in aluminium and finished in automotive paint. Four sleeper or two sleeper, it leaves the door ready for wherever you are going.

Frame, chassis, panels and paint all happen under one roof in George. Nothing is outsourced that we can do better ourselves.
The people who weld your chassis are the people who answer the phone. That is how we have worked since 2008 and it is not about to change.
Designed, engineered and manufactured entirely in South Africa, for South African terrain, weather and distances.
Stainless steel where it matters, aluminium where weight counts, and components chosen to be serviced, not replaced.
A utility stainless steel that resists corrosion far better than mild steel, so river crossings, coastal air and muddy tracks do not eat away at the structure.
Light, strong and rust free, keeping the tare down without giving up rigidity.
The same class of finish you would expect on a vehicle, for a deep colour that stands up to sun and stone chips.
A 2,500 kg braked axle on parabolic leaf suspension, a 2,700 kg brake coupler and a Victron solar system.
Go further than the brochure roads. Stay longer than the weekend. Come home with dust in the hinges and nothing broken.
Unplug. Explore. Repeat. The best way to understand an X4 is to stand next to one. Viewings are by appointment so that someone from the family can walk you through every detail.
Pictures only go so far. Visit the workshop in George, open every hatch, lie on the queen bed and talk build options with the family that makes it.
